Week 42 – Day 1

I have decided to continue my daily posts for the next week, sorry for those that have had enough of me but it keeps me focused and thinking about the finish.

Today started like any other Wednesday, I weighed in, got ready for work, we dropped the boys off then headed to work but today was going to be different for sure.
My good friend Nic who I also work with, who has been with me through this entire journey cheering me on from the sidelines and encouraging me every step of the way.  Well today she had a beautiful baby girl and I couldn’t be happier for them both.
It means I can’t go to my spin class tomorrow night because I will NEED to go have tiny baby cuddles, I will catch it up later in the week and will enjoy those cuddles more.
I had a great food day as well as exercise.  I walked down to the bottom of the city to catch up with a friend for lunch, I had a beautiful Thai Chicken salad for lunch but unfortunately it wasn’t that filling so ended up having a piece of toast from the coffee shop downstairs on the way back, all counted in my calories and although I went over by 174 I did a whole lot of exercise today. 
As well as walking to and from lunch I headed to my Body Step Class and worked really hard.  I feel really good that I am back into my exercise.
Dinner was a simple meat and 3 veg which I absolutely love although it’s very different these days.  Making the decision to choose sweet potato over potato and adding pumpkin to our mash.  Some purple carrot and chicken thigh fillet went down a treat.
I was super busy tonight decorating cupcakes, baking and of course cleaning the kitchen after making a huge mess so my steps for today are quite high.

Week 41 – Weigh In Day

So today is the day, I was extremely nervous and was pretty sure I would gain.  I am not in a good mind set when it comes to the scales at the moment.
This morning I really struggled to get onto those scales, I was completely convinced it wouldn’t be a good result, I even told Hubby to weigh in first cause I just couldn’t face another let down.
I was however pleasantly surprised…….75.3kg.  It’s the lowest weight to date. 
Although I have had a few up and down weeks, I am still losing…..albeit very slowly.

I’m not sure what has worked well this week, has it been that I made a conscious effort to do more exercise and to push myself more or was it because for the first time in 41 weeks I made the decision to eat back some of my exercise calories on the days that I burn more than 300 cals. 
I will keep doing what I am doing and will increase my exercise more again this week.
I finally feel like I am on track but I know this week will challenge me. I have cupcakes to make for a work colleague and a 2nd Birthday Cake for my littlest boy for Sunday. I must not eat any off cuts of cake or the icing whilst baking and decorating.  I already know what the cake will taste like, i don’t need to test it and same goes with the tried and true icing recipe.

I am writing down my exercise plan here and now to keep myself accountable.  With a really busy week ahead I need to keep to my plan and not let anything get in the way.  I wrote myself that contract and one of the things it says is:
When there is a conflict between my exercise and eating plans and what other people want me to do, I will negotiate to find a reasonable solution that allows me to do what I need to do for myself”

I have this and I can do this!!

Wednesday 31st July:  Body Step 1 hr – approx cal burn 600-650
Thursday 1st August:  Spin Class 45 mins – unsure of cal burn (haven’t done this class before)
Friday 2nd August:  Super Circuit 1 hr – approx cal burn 600-650
Saturday 3rd August: Walk with hubby and eldest one 45-60 mins – approx cal burn 250-300
Sunday 4th August: Party day so very busy but only incidental exercise
Monday 5th August:  Body Step 1 hr – approx cal burn 600-650
Tuesday 6th August: 4-5km walk during the day – approx cal burn 250-300

Thought I would also update you on my wrist:
I saw the physio yesterday afternoon and thankfully he doesn’t think I have tendinitis.  The bad news is that we are not entirely sure what it is.  After moving my wrist around for a few minutes he managed to find the sore spot, there are several small bones and ligaments and any of them could be causing the pain.  He has strapped it and wants me to keep it strapped for the week, if it improves we will keep strapping it until it’s better.  If it gets any worse he will send me to a Muscular Skeletal Physio who will refer me for a CT scan on the smaller parts of my wrist.
He has asked me to go back to the gym and continue weights however making sure I keep within my limitations.  I am pretty good with this having suffered from Bursitis in my shoulder. 

Super Circuit here I come!!  Cant wait.  I love that class.

Week 41 – Day 7

I do a lot of thinking whilst exercising but I also do a lot of thinking whilst in the shower.  I cant hear much so its a perfect time to think.  This morning whilst in the shower I was thinking about my goal present, I ordered it a while ago and it arrived yesterday.  Its a circle of love pendant with the boys names stamped on it.  I tried it on last night and its beautiful but I told myself I couldn’t have it until reaching my initial 30kg weight loss goal of 74.2kg. 
So this morning it was front and centre of my thoughts, like a kid on Christmas Eve, waiting, impatiently and I am very impatient. 
I realised whilst deep in thought that my new 30kg goal date was the 7th of August and today is the 30th of July.  What that means is that after weigh in day tomorrow I only have a week to get to goal.  This thought process has really struck something inside of me.  If I cant lift heavy stuff because of my wrist injury then I will have to get stuck into cardio, no excuses!

Yesterday I was using MyFitnessPal on my desktop which is unusual as I do most of my tracking on my iPhone.  What I discovered is that you can adjust your Food Settings to show different meal names, previously I had Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snacks.  As you can see I have now changed that to reflect how I eat during the day.  Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner & Dessert.  I know dessert shouldn’t be something I have but sometimes I feel like something after dinner and this way I will be able to track the choices I am making and maybe change them if need be.

Before lunch today,  I headed out for a big walk around the river over to South Bank and managed 4.61km in 42mins. 
My HRM ‘Pinkie’ was great, I kept an eye on it making sure never to let it drop below 110 BPM. 
I came back to work and decided on my fail safe pantry lunch – a rice cup, a can of chicken and a bag of steamed veg.  It was so nice and I really appreciated it after working so hard on my walk.

Off to the Physio tonight to get my wrist looked at, will be interested to get a verdict.  Fingers crossed with some exercises I can get back into Body Pump and Super Circuit at the gym. 
In the meantime I am going to try a Spin Class. 
Disclaimer: I hate exercise bikes to death but I will give it a go. 
Whats 45 mins right???  I will answer that after my class on Thursday.

Am I nervous about weigh in day tomorrow?  Hell YES!! Not sure that I will have much of a loss but I am now really motivated to get to 74.2 by 7th August.

Week 41 – Day 6

Today was a mixed up day, my littlest boy was rather sick with Asthma, it’s terrible when they cant breathe properly and extremely worrying.  Rather than he go to kindy and run around like a mad man making his cough worse he went to Nana’s house.  I did see him mid morning as Mum had an appointment in the City so I went with her to keep watch and although I know hes not well he may as well have been faking it.  No coughing and back to his normal cheeky self.

I had a quick bite to eat at the hospital with Mum of roast lamb and veges which was super yummy and headed back to the office.  What I did do today was have a 2nd cup of coffee during the day which I think kept me up a little late but I was extremely tired from a very restless night listening for breathing and coughing.

I love our Fish & Chip nights, we have a piece of fish lightly floured in Rice Flour as well as 1/2 squid tube and some homemade sweet potato and potato chips which we cook in the oven. 

It was just what I needed after a big session at the gym doing Body Step.
Tonight was the first time I used “pinkie” whilst doing a class and I’m happy that my estimations to date have been fairly much on track with calories burned.

Week 41 – Day 5

We started our day with a walk in and around Caridale, just over 5km in total which includes a stop at the park for the boys to have a run around and a short jog/run when we saw the rain coming, making it to shelter just in time. 

We fed the ducks and the boys had a great time. 
We headed out for a nice lunch at a local buffet restaurant. I was pretty good apart from a small cone ice cream which was so yummy.  Ice cream can’t be bought into our house because I will eat it until its gone so its nice to have a small one every now and then.
I headed out to do the groceries with a full belly and after walking around both Aldi and Coles I felt pretty good.
Nice light dinner of smoked salmon and tofu.
I have prepped some snack bars for the week and have a good plan for food.

Week 41 – Day 4

We had a busy day out this morning.

I tagged along with Mum and Dad and the boys as they went along to watch my nephew sing with his choir at his school fete.
I rode with my eldest in a motorized car whilst poppy took the little fella, we had heaps of fun.
After watching the kids sing we headed out and were measured by the police mans radar gun.  My eldest ran 11km an hour, pretty good for a 3.5 year old and the littliest one loved the wee wars (sirens).  We also managed to get a scooter for $2 and enjoyed the afternoon at our local reservoir scooting around.
It’s been a good day with food, a couple of sneaky hot chips at the fete but everything tracked. 
No exercise as such but out and about for a lot of the day.

Week 41 – Day 1

This week I am going to post every day. 
I need to keep myself accountable, food and exercise needs to be front and centre.
My new goal for 74.2kg is Wednesday 7th August, I can do this.

Here goes…..

Today I was disappointed with my 600gram gain, I have again convinced myself that the scales are broken but I know there not.  Its just an excuse 😦
I will not let this affect me, I will get on with the job and move forward.

I did go out for lunch today however had my standard semi healthy dish of Chicken Pad Thai.  It was a few blocks walk to and from lunch and not enough exercise for today however I went to the gym tonight for Body Step and work very hard.

I made the decision today to spend the money on a heart rate monitor so I can more accurately manage what my calorie burn is, I think that on the days I do a lot of exercise (in excess of 600 cals) I need to be eating back a little more than I currently do.  With online buying, cheap and speedy postage its so easy to get these sort of things and when you are a busy mum who works full time sometimes its hard to get to the shops.

Dinner tonight is a super healthy meal of Salt & Pepper Tofu, Smoked Salmon and Tomato/Cucumber salsa.
Its a staple in our house and ever so tasty, also surprisingly filling.
