Week 45 – Weigh in Day

This week was tough.  I struggled with not feeling well and wanting to eat really badly.  Why do I always crave bad food when I am sick? I don’t really eat a lot of chocolate but give me sickness and I NEED chocolate and biscuits and anything else I can get my hands on and yes I tracked it all.  I was over on several days but I was and am always honest with my calories.

Thursday night I did a double gym class which was great, I felt really good after 2 hours of spin and body pump and I worked really hard.

I had a good week food wise however have decided that eating back my exercise calories is just not working.  This constant losing and gaining every other week is getting me down.  I know my body is changing and I am seeing changes in measurements so I am trying not to get bogged down by what is shown on the scales.

I haven’t done a lot of exercise this week being sick and don’t know that I will get a lot done in the coming days but I will try with all my mite!!

Week 44 – Weigh in day

My week started off really well, Wednesday was show holiday in Brisbane so it was off to kindy with the boys and hubby and I had a day off together.  I love my children very much but having a child free day every now and then is just bliss.
We had a healthy breakfast then headed off to the gym for a double gym class.  First up was Spin, my second time and hubbies first.  I felt I worked harder this time and did a great job clocking up 452 cals.  Second class was Body Combat which neither of us had done and within a few minutes hubby was out, it was too fast paced so he went and did a weights circuit instead.  I really enjoyed this class, it was a little similar to Body Step however much more fast paced and with a lot of kicking and punching my body was sure to feel it in the coming days, I had thought about giving up and walking out twice but kept thinking back to my calorie burn and after the hour, when I walked out drenched in sweat and not looking very pretty at all I had burned 598 cals which gave me a total calorie burn of 1050 in 1 hr and 45 mins.  I was suitably impressed with myself.
After a quick final visit to the physio for my wrist we headed out for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant.  Although I counted my calories and didn’t eat bad food I probably had a bit too much meat and the soft serve ice cream for dessert was probably not required I felt good for the fact that I had done so much exercise before hand.  I did however now have a “food baby” and had to have a nana nap which resulted in a “food coma” which I struggled to wake from.

The rest of the week has been a little bit of a struggle, with Mum out of action for the next few months after ankle surgery we will have to plan a bit more around our trips to the gym.  Once a week Mum watches both the boys whilst we go to Super Circuit together so we might have to alternate weeks.  I have found one of the biggest things on my journey is great planning and with things changing a little we just have to keep on top of things.

I managed my 3rd spin class on Saturday morning and I worked really hard, getting my best calorie burn from that class yet of 560 cals.  It did help that I was sitting in front of the instructor who knows I am struggling to get to goal so she was pushing me quite a bit.

We had a really busy day on Saturday with a family photo shoot near Sea World on the Gold Coast and dinner at a colleagues house, we don’t usually take the boys out after normal bed times however we decided to take them along and I was super impressed with their behaviour.  I indulged in dessert but tracked everything.

Friends of Mum & Dads arrived from NZ last night so we headed down the Gold Coast to our favourite market for breakfast, we had a lovely time, the boys had their faces painted like spider men and we got a few bits and pieces.  A quick trip back through Surfers Paradise followed by a very busy afternoon making dinner, dessert and a few home made jams and marmalade’s.
I needed to work hard over the coming days to make up for a few indulgences as well as a lack of exercise.

Monday was Body Step and I have decided to only do one of these classes a week, all the turning is not good for my knees and I feel like I need a change for something else.

Tuesday was Body Combat again, I had to go to a different gym and pay a $5 fee but I think it will be worth it for the change.  I really enjoyed the session earlier in the week.

Week 43 – Weigh in Day

Ok so I have bee AWOL but that doesn’t mean I have fallen from the wagon.
Work has been crazy busy this week and as well as being super busy when at work with meetings and running about all over Brisbane I have also had to do some catch up work at home so haven’t had a lot of time to blog.  Unfortunately not much is going to change in the coming weeks so I will post weekly and anything else if I can.

I had a good week and although I indulged in a few bits and pieces I worked really hard and kept pretty busy which resulted in a 400gram loss.  I am now currently the lightest I have been in my adult life (well i have been for weeks if not months).  I am loosing slowly and after talking to a friend on the weekend who gave me some good advice I have decided to change things up a little once again.
I am going to do a couple of different classes and make more of an effort to do some tummy work at home with some exercises that I found on the web.  I will be using my weights to work on

Lemons or Limes??

I was asked the other day if you can use limes instead of lemons for adding into water and to be honest I didn’t know the answer so I went looking…………Dr. Google as I call it.

Turns out they are pretty similar so I can only assume they are the same and from my readings they both have similar health benefits.

In addition I also recommend keeping a bottle of lemon or lime juice, not the sweet variety you find in the cordial section of the supermarket but the one in the baking section.  Fresh is always better in my view however these are handy at either home or work for when you don’t have any fresh fruit available

Here is a website that shows you a great comparison between the 2 fruits Lemons v Lime

Tamara, I hope this answers your question 🙂  If limes are more readily available

Week 42 – Day 1

Today is a good day.  I am in pants that fit me, I am healthy and fit and its my youngest sons 2nd birthday.
The look on his face when he found all the balloons on his bedroom floor and got to throw them in the air was priceless.  We didn’t want to give him his bike this morning as we were worried we would never get him off it.

I did however forget to grab something for morning and afternoon tea today so it was a quick trip down to the coffee shop for fruit salad for morning tea and a couple of rice cakes and Vegemite for afternoon tea.  My super healthy lunch was beautiful and so very filling just before my big walk out around the river. The so called “Ekka Winds” have hit Brisbane right on time as Ekka started today, it was pretty windy out but refreshing with the sun high in the sky.
Oh how my lunches have changed.  I think back to when I came back to work a little over a year ago.  Roast pork with potato bake or something similar and absolutely no attempt at any exercise.

This afternoon we will celebrate with a kids party menu for an early dinner.  Sausage rolls, party pies, cocktail sausages and cake so I will be having a little of everything,  I have already done my exercise for the day so don’t feel guilty about it at all.

Left: 13/10/12 – Right: 07/08/13

A special comparison photo for those playing along at home.  Wearing a dress is a pretty big thing for me but maybe not anymore.  I did feel like everyone was watching me all day but i know it was probably all in my head.

Week 42 – Weigh in Day

I was worried about the scales although a little hopeful.  I must admit, even with a small gain of 200grams I am pretty happy.  The yo-yo that I have been having over the last few weeks is a lot smaller than it has been and I feel more in control.  On top of that I know that my body is changing with all the exercise I am doing.  My belly is shrinking and I have a lot more definition in my thighs.

I have had a smaller size 12 pair of black jeans at home that didn’t fit me at the same weight 3 weeks ago and now fit.  I need to remember that the scales are not always a true reflection at this point in my journey.

I was honest in one of my posts during the week about having cake and I did because I felt it was important for me to show my children that this is not a diet but a lifestyle change.  Its OK to have my cake and eat it to but working hard before or afterwards is essential.

Now to reflect on my exercise for the week and to be honest I am so proud, I didn’t do everything in the order that I said I would but I smashed it out none the less + more.
I am also very thankful to my wonderful husband who although was a little unwell on Saturday morning soldiered through looking after the boys for a few hours whilst I did a double class at the gym.
Without him half of what I do would be impossible and I don’t thank him enough.  I love you babe and am so grateful.

Week 42 – Day 7

Its weigh in day tomorrow and the self doubt is starting to creep in again.  I am already fearful of the scales tomorrow morning.  I have not had 2 loses in a row now for many weeks and the trend is starting to scare me.
I know I cant dwell on it but its something that is front and centre at the moment.

I went for a big walk at lunch time today, nearly 5km.

Busy night getting everything ready for a busy day at work tomorrow.  Tidied the house as I am trying to keep on top of the housework and not letting the house get so untidy come Friday afternoon.

Was pretty good with food today making sure to have a healthy lunch and a good dinner.  One of the lowest calorie days all week.
